Use Norton Auto run Restore to restore your files in a snap

Norton Auto run Restore is a specialized feature that allows you bring back your back-up files to a device that doesn’t have Norton installed on it. All you have to do is insert the disc (containing the backed-up files) into a computer system and the Norton Auto run Restore feature will start on the Portable Restore screen. For disabling Windows auto-run option, you have to manually launch the Auto run Restore feature. This window will let you know the following:

  • Name and size of the backup set
  • Date and time you backed up the files

Follow the below-given instructions to restore files with this dedicated solution that can be accessed via

  1. Open the CD/DVD drive and place the optical disc that has backed-up files
  2. Hit the Are store icon
    1. If you have disabled the Windows AutoPlay, go to the optical disc and double-click the Are store icon
    2. This will immediately launch Auto run Restore feature
  3. Now, hit Select Files to Restore option from Portable Restore window
  4. In the left pane of the window, click a file category from which you wish to bring back the files
    1. You will find the file category under Filter Results By section
  5. In the right pane of the Window, choose the files that you want to bring back
    1. However, if you wish to restore all the files displayed in the left pane, choose All File Types
  6. Now, check the checkbox in the header, which is close to Backup Item
  7. Choose one of the followings under Restore To window:
    1. Custom Location
      1. Select this option, if you wish to restore your back-up files to a new location
    2. Original Location
      1. Select this option, if you wish to restore the files to its original location
    3. Hit Restore Selected
    4. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen and wait until this process finishes!
